ATENEO DE de NAGA UNIVERSITY (ADNU)
The Ateneo de Naga University (AdNU)
is a private research university run by the Society of Jesus in Naga
City, Camarines Sur, Philippines. It
was established in 1940, the fourth school named Ateneo opened
in the Philippines by the Jesuits. Typical of universities in the Philippines,
AdNU has primary (since 2014) and secondary levels, which are all
coeducational.
Mission
As
a university, the Ateneo de Naga seeks the integral formation of men and women
who will contribute to the total development of the family and human society.
As
a Filipino university, the Ateneo de Naga fosters love of country and a deep
commitment to the culture of human life and care for creation. It commits
itself to contribute to and benefit from global society for the transformation
of the Filipino nation. Its special task is the development of Bicol and the
preservation and enhancement of its culture.
As
a Catholic university, the Ateneo de Naga is committed to the service of the
faith that promotes justice. It seeks to form men and women committed to the
person and teaching of Jesus Christ in loyal and dedicated service to the

School: General
Information and Academic Administration
After observation, please write a report about school general information and its academic
administration according to topics as follows:
1.1
School profile
I was assigned in
public school named NAGA CENTRAL SCHOOL II.
More than two decades
ago, nobody ever thought that there would be a school to be named Naga Central
School II mainly because of the existence of Naga Central School with more than
a hundred teachers.
For the reason of the
great number of pupils and teachers and the need for better school administration
and supervision , DECS officials realized the need to divide Naga Central
School into two separate schools. Thus in 1989 Naga Central School II was
established in front of Naga Central School I building. The former had more or
less 40 teachers while the latter had more or less 60 teachers.
Since its creation,
NCS II has had nine principals in succession namely: Dr. Violeta S. Del Villar
(retired Assistant Schools Superintendant of Naga City), Mrs Lilia Ragrario
(retired), Miss Francia Oporto (retired), Mrs. Cecilia Ledesma (retired), Mr.
Domingo Balares (retired), Mr. Pablo Marpuri Jr. (retired), Dr. Teresita Irma
S. Dy-Cok (currently the principal of Naga Central School), Mr. Antonio
C.Baloro (currently the PSDS of Naga East), and at present, Mr. Francisco Leo
J.Damasig .
Presenlty Naga Central
School II has almost seventy (70) teaching and non-teaching staff having 14
classes in kindergarten, ten (10) sections in Grade I and nine (9) sections
from Grade I to VI.

system
This school has
academic support system by LGN and MOOE.

Teaching system
NCS II has different
class which are Special Science Elementary School and Fast Learners (FL). In FL
class they used Englih language as the teacher intruction everyday, even their
books have 2 types English languange and Bicol Language. sometimes the teacher
used Bicol language as their instruction and sometimes the teacher use English
language but more often English language. to enter Fl class the pupils need to past
the test. the pupils in FL class must fluent in English. And the teacher taught
based on K-12 Curriculum

Materials and other
learning sources
From DepEd Websites. The
materials used by the pupils and teacher in teaching are the books in the
library and other references like other textbooks the teacher prefer and some
internet sources. They also have some televisions to use during the class
discussions, some powerpoint presentations, video presentations, and etc.

Measurement and
evaluation system
This school use Paper
and Pencil test. so the teacher will give the pupils paper of test and then the
pupils will answer the questions use pencil.

The goal of every
elementary teacher is be a professional teacher because elementary teacher is a
class teacher also. So the teacher will be teaching more than 3 subjects. So I
want the pupils will understand really well what I taught to them with everything
method that I used.

Authentic
Assessment is an assessment where the student will perform a certain task/s
given by the teacher like role playing, music video, video presentation, creative
presentation, creative reporting, outcome based, and etc.
In NCS II, they also have authentic assessment. For example
I-Q test and CTONI.

Because i will teach
in NCS II so i will follow the school’s curriculum that is K-12 Curriculum.

Teaching plan related
to your major
My major is Elementary
Education so i taught the pupils with fun way. I made materials like power point, puzzle,
pictures, videos and divided them into group to play games. With my materials
they will understand easily.
4. Observation on Teacher(s)
After observing and studying about
teacher(s), please write a report on following topics:
1.1
Planning for teaching
The name of my
cooperating teacher is Mrs. Flora A. Ocbian or Teacher Flora, she is a math,
science and english teacher in grade 3-FL, she just handle in grade 3-FL
because elementary teacher is also class teacher. In my observation week, I
just observed the grade 3-FL class that is the class that I will be handling
for next weeks of my practicum. When I observed teacher Flora she always prepared
power point presentation for her material and she followed the book regarding her
topic to teach.
1.2
Preparing lessons and
materials
In the class teacher
Flora always used power point as her material and showed it on television. She
also used text book as their guide to teach.
1.3
Teaching in class
When I observed in the
class teacher Flora taught English subject the topic is read a poem fluently.
In the first teacher Flora ask about the topic last meeting and then connect it
to the topic that she will disscuss today. And then teacher flora show a power
point and ask the pupils to read it together, after that teacher Flora give
them a comment for their recite. After that teacher Flora gave them assignment to
memorize the poem and the pupils will recite it in front of the class next week.

Measurement and
Evaluation
The teacher evaluates
every after the topic ends. For example, the topic is about Read a poem and
there are 3 subtopics under it, let say, the one point in a reading, after the
teacher will discuss the one point in a reading, the teacher will give a short
evaluation to validate if the students understand the topic. Therefore, under
the Read a poem, they will have 3 short evaluations – the purpose of it is to
have a fluenlty read about the poem, because after all the 3 subtopics the
teacher will give a summative test that covers the 3 subtopics of the Read a
poem.

Teaching Practice
For teaching practice, please write a
teaching plan and consult with teacher (of your teaching subject). Then student
teachers will be assigned to teach in class and reflect on their teaching after
class. Please write a report on the teaching practice according to topics as
follows:

Procedures of teaching
For
procedures of teaching i just follow my lesson plan. In the first is daily
activity that is greeting. So i said good morning or good afternoon to the
pupils and then i ask them to pray first before start the lesson and check the
attendace or ask them to pick up all the pieces of paper under their desk.
After that is review, in here i review the topic last meeting and then check
their knowledge about their last meeting, example the lesson last meeting is
about waterform. so i ask them what is waterform? and then give examples of
waterform. After that is motivation, in here is about my topic sometimes i
divied them into group and sometimes i prepared about my materials and connect
it to my topic. After that is procedur, in here i show them my power point
about my topic and explain it step by step. After i explained it all i gave the
pupils guide practice which is shown in power point i disscussed the guide
practice in chalk board with the pupils so they will understand. After guide
practice finished i gave them independence practice, so they will answer my
questions in their book and then i will check it. After that is closure, during
the closure i ask the pupils if they still have difficult in my lesson and
close it with give them an assignment for their homework.

Time management and
organizing activities
Iam never absent and
late to come to school, I always ready if my cooperating teacher ask me to
teach. When i taught i always follow my lesson plan and prepared my materials.
But sometimes when i teach i overtime because too enjoy to teach.

Problem-solving
If the pupils didn’t
understand my lesson i will teach them again and again until they understand
and got perfect score.
1.4
Classroom management
Before
teaching the topic, I gave the pupils ice breaking. Ice breaking that I
use is when I say hello, the students have to say HI!, If I say Hi! The
students say Hello. So if the students are noisy, I use ice breaking to
make the classroom quiet again.

6. Summary and Suggestions
Student teachers summarize what you had
done during your practicum according to topics as follows:
1.1
Purposes of practicum
The purpose of this practicum to me is to get to know and learn
about the different perspective of educational system in different country with
different people, language used, and ways of life.
1.2
Procedures of
practicum
My procedures is I
need to attend the class at 7.15 am in the morning and go home at 4.30 pm in
the afternoon. I need to attend the class from monday to friday and teach in
the date that teacher Flora already scheduled. I need to write detail lesson
plan in Filipino way and give it to teacher Flora the day before my demo
teaching.
1.3
Outcomes of practicum
The outcomes of this practicum is that all my expectation before I
got in Philippines. During my whole practicum in NC II was the
best experience that I had because I learned and realized a lot of things
during my practicum. I am glad that my students are very diligent,
they know how to become serious in times of learning. They are willing to learn
from me and from what I am discussing about. They are participating in the
discussion even though that I am a new teacher for them. They always ask me
about Bahasa im so proud of that, even I taught them Bahasa on the board. From
this school I learned abut dicipline, about teaching method, about materials
and about management the class.

The challenges of
practicum
My challenges is just
lesson plan in Filipino way, because it is different from Indonesia so I need
to learn again frm the beginning.

Overall impression
After my 4 weeks of
staying and teaching in NCS II. I am honored and glad because I was able to
experience to teach in NCS II and I will never forget the learnings that I
gained and the people that impart in my life. I also glad that I have a lots of
lovable pupils (I really love my pupils and I super miss them) and lots of very
kind teachers. I will always remember NCS II.

Suggestions for future
improvement
My suggestions for the
future is decrease the hour of teaching demo, because we don’t have much time
to finished 20 hours of teaching demo.
